Looking for Lenin in Ukraine

Written by:

In 2016, the journalists Niels Ackermann and Sebastien Gobert began a trip that would take them across Ukraine, looking for lost or destroyed or repurposed Lenin statues.

One lead led to another, as the pair tracked down statues (or parts thereof) across the country. “A Svoboda activist has got Lenin’s hand,” one contact tells them. “Of course, it would be nice to find the body, too,” the journalists muse.
